Furniture guide
5 minHow do you budget an office furniture project?
What drives the total of a furniture project —quantities per area, product line, finishes, storage, installation and delivery—, what to send to get an accurate quote and how to compare two quotes.

The short answer
A furniture budget is built from the bottom up: quantities per area, multiplied by the product line and finishes you choose, plus storage, installation and delivery. That's why there's no reliable price per square metre: two offices of the same size cost differently depending on how many people they have, which chair they use and how much they store. To get an accurate quote, send five things: the type of space, people or desks per area, the floor plan or the area, the target date and, if you like, a budget range. With that, the proposal comes back by area, with quantities, lead times and installation included, and you can adjust line by line until it fits. Start at luxaline.net/en/proyecto.

What drives the total
| Factor | Why it changes the total | How you control it |
|---|---|---|
| Quantities per area | It multiplies everything else | Count desks from real data, not the full headcount if people work hybrid |
| Chair and workstation line | The task chair is multiplied by every person | Invest in the full-day chair and adjust on visitor seating |
| Finishes and upholstery | Mesh, fabric, PU or leather; melamine, glass or veneer | Pick one standard catalogue finish for the whole floor |
| Storage | Drawers, credenzas and lockers get forgotten at the start and show up at the end | Include them from the first proposal |
| Installation and delivery | They vary with the country, floor, access and site hours | Make sure they're included and described in the quote |
None of these factors can be turned into a fixed figure without your project's quantities: that's why this guide gives no prices.
What to send to get an accurate quote
If you only need a few pieces, build the order from the catalogue at quote. If it's a whole space, the project form asks for exactly these details and an advisor builds the proposal by area.
- Project type: corporate office, educational centre, auditorium, restaurant or hotel, outdoor or architecture.
- Approximate scope: people, desks, rooms, seats or guest rooms. «60 workstations and 2 boardrooms» is already a scope.
- The floor plan or the square metres. If you don't have a plan, the capacity calculator gives the order of magnitude.
- When you need it: as soon as possible, in 1 to 3 months, in 3 to 6 months or if you're still exploring.
- A budget range, if you want to share it: it's optional, but it helps propose the right line from the first round.
Where to adjust if it doesn't fit (and where not to)
- If you're over budget: first adjust the range of visitor, reception and accessory seating. The task chair is the last thing you touch.
- If it still doesn't fit: buy in phases without changing lines. Workstations and task chairs first, then managers and meeting rooms, finally reception and accessories, as explained in the guide on furnishing by area.
- If you have to choose between finishes: one standard finish for the whole floor goes further than mixing several special ones.
- What not to cut: installation and storage. Without installation nobody answers for the result; without storage desks fill up with boxes.

How to compare two quotes
Before looking at the total, line both quotes up with the same specifications. The same or equivalent models with a spec sheet (materials, mechanism, adjustments, weight capacity), the same quantities per area, installation included in both, a written warranty, lead times and delivery location. If one quote leaves out installation or storage, it isn't cheaper: it's incomplete. To compare chairs model by model, use the comparison tool, and if you're in El Salvador or Nicaragua, try them in store before you commit.

Common mistakes
Asking for a «price per square metre»
The total depends on how many people and which pieces, not the floor area. Send quantities per area.
Cutting back on the task chair
It's the piece used eight hours a day. Adjust visitor seating and accessories first.
Comparing different quotes
If one includes installation and the other doesn't, they can't be compared. Match specifications before looking at the total.
Forgetting storage
Drawers, credenzas and lockers show up at the end and break the budget. Include them from the first proposal.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to furnish an office?
It depends on how many people and rooms it has, the line and finishes you choose and installation and delivery in your country; there's no useful figure per square metre. Send the type of space, the scope, the floor plan and the date, and the proposal comes back by area with quantities.
What information do I need to get an office furniture quote?
The type of space, how many people or desks per area, the floor plan or the square metres, the target date and, if you like, a budget range.
Can furniture be bought in phases?
Yes. Ask for the full proposal and buy in stages without changing lines: workstations and task chairs first, then managers and meeting rooms, and finally reception and accessories.
Is furniture installation included in the quote?
In LuxaLine Muebles projects the proposal is built by area with quantities, lead times and installation included. When comparing with another supplier, check that installation is described in both quotes.
Should I quote single pieces or a complete project?
For a few pieces, build the order from the catalogue at luxaline.net/en/cotizacion. For a whole space, use luxaline.net/en/proyecto: an advisor builds the proposal by area.
